The Crime Justice Information Division of Oregon State Police publishes crime data compiled by all the state law enforcement agencies. The latest report shows that Deschutes County had 2 murders, 37 rapes, 50 robberies, and 217 aggravated assaults in 2018. During this year, the county also recorded 424 burglaries, 3,281 larceny-thefts, 228 motor vehicle thefts, and 33 arsons.
A quick review of five-year crime analysis from 2014 to 2018 reveals falling trend in rape (7.5%) and robbery (3.8%) rates, while aggravated assaults rate went up by 10.2%. There were 2 incidents of murder in 2018 compared to none in 2014. In 2018, burglary (25%), larceny-theft (2.3%), and arson (28.3%) rates declined, while motor vehicle theft rate increased by 14%.

Deschutes County Vital Records
Divorce records are available from the Deschutes County Circuit Court. To obtain copies of divorce decrees in Deschutes County, visit the circuit courthouse at the address provided above.
The Deschutes County Clerk’s Office provides copies of a marriage license for citizens and residents of the county. To procure copies of a marriage license, print and complete a Request Certified Copy of Marriage Record Form. 1 certified copy costs $7.75, while 2 certified copies cost $11.75. The County and State Vital Record offices provide both birth and death certificates for members of the public. The Deschutes County Health Services Vital Records Office issues certificates for birth and death record events that occurred within the last 6 months while the State Vital Records Office processes requests for birth and death records older than 6 months.
To request certificates for birth or death events that occurred within 6 months, complete a Deschutes County Birth Record Order Form or a Deschutes County Death Record Order Form. A copy of photo identification is required. Check the list of acceptable identification on the record order form. A birth or death certificate costs $25, payable by check, money order, cash, or credit/debit card.

To obtain certified copies of birth and death records older than 6 months, complete an Oregon Birth Record Order Form or an Oregon Death Record Order Form. However, when requesting a birth certificate in-person the office charges $28 for a first copy and $25 for each additional copy requested at the same time.
