Crime Numbers
In 2016, the total number of crimes reported in Benton County was 210 including 27 violent crimes and 183 property crimes. Violent crimes reported include 4 rapes and 23 aggravated assaults while incidences of property crimes include 49 burglaries, 120 larcenies, 14 motor vehicle thefts, and 4 arsons.
These figures, when compared with the 2011 numbers, represent a slight decline in total crimes reported. Between 2011 and 2016, murder, burglary, and larceny rates decreased by 100%, 13%, and 9% respectively in Benton County. In the same five-year period, rape, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft, and arson rates increased by 33%, 64%, 17%, and 100% respectively.
Criminal Records
The Oregon State Police maintains criminal history record information throughout the state. Individuals trying to access their criminal histories must provide fingerprints rolled on applicant fingerprint cards. The State Police offers fingerprinting services at its office located at 3565, Trelstad Avenue SE, Building 1, Salem any time from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It charges $20 for this service. Fingerprinting services are also provided by local police departments and approved fingerprinting service providers.
Along with a rolled fingerprint card, the requester must also submit a completed Copy of Own Oregon Record form along with a $33 check or money order payable to Oregon State Police. Send the documents and payment to:

Benton County has just one circuit court and three municipal courts. This circuit court is a trial court with general jurisdiction. It decides criminal, civil, traffic, small claims, juvenile, domestic relations, violations, probate, adoption, and guardianship cases. Interested parties should complete either the birth certificate request form or the death certificate request form.
